Class Schedule
Tuition Tuition for the 10 week course is $6000.00. A deposit of $500 is required with each application. The deposit is applied to the tuition. The balance is due on the first day of class. The deposit well be refunded in full only if the student is not accepted by the school or if it becomes necessary for the school to change a class schedule after the student has been accepted and the student is unable to accomodate the new schedule or unable to attend an alternative class within one year of the original date. Veterans Requirements for VA Funding - "Veteran Pro Rata Policy - In accordance with VA regulations, students withdrawing from course will have the remainder of the course fees refunded on a pro rata basis. A copy of the schedule is available from the school. Should a VA student withdraw prior to start of the course, the registration fee will be refunded in accordance with VA regulations. Veterans previous education and training policy - credit for previous training will be evaluated and appropriate credit given for each veteran." Books and Tools The books used for the school are Gene Ovnicek's "New Hope for Soundness" manual, as well as related videos and literature. We also use Doug Butler's "Principles of Horseshoeing II" and the corresponding videos and workbook. These are provided at no additional cost to the student and the books are theirs to keep. The tools required for the course are provided by the school and remain the property of the school. Housing Housing is provided for the students in a dorm-like facility at no additional charge. Cooking and laundry facilities are provided along with satelite television and phone. Admission Requirements Excessive physical strength is not necessary to be a successful farrier. However, you must be in good physical condition to learn and perform the proper techniques of trimming and shoeing. You must be able to read and comprehend the assigned textbooks, practical exercises and complete written and practical exams. Students under the age of 17 will be enrolled only after individual review by the instructor and with parental permission. No experience is necessary. Conduct Policy Conduct disruptive to classes, discourteous or disrespectful toward Cowtown Horseshoeing School staff or faculty, willfully damaging to the school's property or equipment, or in any other way detrimental to the school, staff, faculty or student body is cause for immediate termination at the discretion of the director. A student may not re-enroll any time after termination for unacceptable conduct. Students will be given orientation on the schools rules and regulations at the beginning of each session. |
